ANSWERING THE AFRICAN CHALLENGE/ KENYA MEETING REQUEST

January 14, 2008

Honorable Jendayi Frazer
Assistant Secretary of State for Africa
Department of State
Washington, DC

Dear Assistant Secretary Frazer:

SUBJECT: ANSWERING THE AFRICAN CHALLENGE/ KENYA MEETING REQUEST

I write to you in my capacity as the President of African Ascension based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Black people on the continent of Africa and throughout the world continue to face institutional racism. We must uncover and confront the root causes of these racial and economic injustices if we are to reverse the impact of hundreds of years of oppression. The concern is whether the world is going to continue to let many of these issues go unexposed and unchallenged.

African Ascension accepts this challenge by using its creative talents to expose and confront existing racist institutions all over the world. We therefore are devoted to informing our supporters on issues that have for numerous years destructively affected the African community. However, it is not our intention to depict Africans as victims, but as a race of people who have a strong potential to become the victors.

African Ascension challenges the status quo and simply does not accept that there are a billion oppressed Africans on the face of the earth who are kept from upward mobility by the same institutions throughout the world; a reality that has been in affect for hundreds of years. Unfortunately, most Africans within these developing countries are not in the position by themselves to formulate an effective reaction to these regimes.
